Not every operation is racing. Plenty are simply out of room, a steady order profile, a range that keeps growing, and a building that is not getting any bigger. The SLS600 travels across the rack as well as along it, so fewer machines reach more locations. That changes the arithmetic: instead of buying throughput you do not need, you buy storage you do, and the cost per stored tote falls.

How it works

Four moving parts

A high-density system is a deep rack, shuttles that move in more than one direction inside it, a lift between levels, and a station where the operator picks. Density comes from how deep the rack goes; cost comes from how few machines are needed to reach it.

The shuttle

Travels along the aisle at 6 m/s and across it at 2 m/s, so one machine serves locations that would otherwise need several. Patented flip forks rated beyond ten million cycles, driven by German DC servo motors that recover energy under braking.

The rack

Multi-deep storage rather than single-depth rows. Dual-position depth is the common configuration, and depth is a design variable rather than a fixed constraint, which is where the density actually comes from.

The lift

Moves totes between levels and hands over to the shuttle on arrival. Sized to the throughput the operation genuinely needs, not to a peak it will never see.

The workstation

Where the operator picks. Single- or double-layer sorting stations, or a goods-to-robot station where shifts run without people.
