Challenge

Automotive component manufacturing runs on tight delivery windows, production lines can't afford delays waiting on parts. Faurecia's facility handled a mixed inventory profile: small, high-turnover components alongside bulky, palletized materials, each with different storage and retrieval needs. Manual and conventional racking systems limited throughput on both fronts, making it difficult to keep pace with just-in-time delivery commitments to automaker customers. The facility needed a solution that could densify storage across both load types, speed up retrieval, and support the high reliability standards of automotive supply chains.

Solution

HWArobotics deployed a combined Tote Shuttle and Pallet Shuttle system, engineered to handle Faurecia's full range of inventory. The tote shuttle system maximizes density and retrieval speed for smaller, high-frequency components, while the pallet shuttle system manages heavy, bulk materials with the same automated efficiency. Together, the two systems allow Faurecia to fully utilize vertical warehouse space across every load type, with coordinated scheduling ensuring inventory moves efficiently between storage and dispatch to support the precise timing just-in-time automotive manufacturing requires.
