A tonne and a half, inside the freezer
Against the ambient model this variant differs in exactly one figure: the bottom of the temperature band. Everything else, footprint, payload, controls, spares, is identical. That single row is what turns a freezer from a place you have to staff into a place nobody needs to enter.
Less air to keep frozen
Deep-lane storage holds far more pallets in the same refrigerated volume, and the doors open a fraction as often. Every cubic metre you stop cooling is saved for the life of the building.
Nobody has to work at −25 °C
Rated for continuous operation inside the chamber, not for trips in and out. Freezer shifts, protective equipment and the recruitment problem that comes with both stop being your constraint.
The same machine as the ambient model
Identical footprint, payload, controls and spares. Only the bottom of the temperature band changes due to a change of battery chemical composition with a lower freezing point, so a site running both zones trains once and stocks one set of parts.

The freezer case
Cold is expensive in three ways.
Freezer automation is rarely justified on throughput. It is justified on the three costs that come with keeping a large volume of air below zero and asking people to work in it.
Labour
Freezer work carries shift limits, protective equipment and a shrinking pool of people prepared to do it. Automation removes the requirement rather than managing it.
Energy
A dense automated store holds far less air per pallet than a forklift warehouse of the same capacity, and the doors open a fraction as often.
Reliability
Cold is hard on equipment that was not designed for it. A machine rated for continuous sub-zero duty is a different proposition from one that tolerates occasional exposure.
Density
Every cubic metre you do not have to refrigerate is saved permanently. Deep-lane storage compounds the energy case rather than simply adding to it.

A four-way shuttle handles every horizontal move in the rack. Servo hoists carry shuttles and pallets between levels. Because throughput is set by how many shuttles, hoists and conveyors you run rather than by the structure, density and speed can be specified independently of each other.

Frequently Asked Questions
The FPSS1500B, specifically.
How does the shuttle handle condensation and frost?
By staying in the chamber. Condensation is caused by equipment cycling between warm and cold air, not by the cold itself, and this shuttle is rated for continuous operation inside the freezer rather than for trips in and out. Pallets crossing the threshold still need the usual airlock or dock discipline, but the machine is not the thing moving between temperatures.
Can one fleet cover both the freezer and the ambient warehouse?
The B is rated from −25 °C to 50 °C, so it can physically work in both. Whether it should is a different question: moving units between zones puts them through exactly the thermal cycling that continuous operation avoids. Most sites keep B units in the freezer and A units outside it, sharing spares and training rather than machines.
Does battery performance change at −25 °C?
The pack and its protection circuitry are rated across the full operating band, and the 72 hour runtime is the specified figure. If your duty sits at the cold extreme for extended periods, ask us for a site-specific runtime rather than working from the headline number.
